Daily Art Challenge - Day 180 of 365 - 27th August 2025
Today’s piece was inspired by a lovely promise I made to a subscriber — to paint another owl, as they’re her daughter’s favourite.
While flipping through my sketchbook, I stumbled upon an idea I’d forgotten about: an enchanted tree with a winding path that leads to stairs, disappearing into a doorway nestled at the base of its roots. A tiny fairy house, glowing windows hinting at life within, turned out to be the perfect setting.
To complete the scene, an owl sweeps low beneath the branches, adding movement and mystery. Around the edges, tall curling ferns frame the piece in shadow, drawing your eyes toward the glowing heart of this magical woodland dwelling.
This one feels like a glimpse into a secret world, just waiting to be discovered.

Painted on a mini 7cm x 7cm stretched canvas, this piece comes with its own little wooden easel for easy display — a tiny treasure to brighten any corner.
