Daily Art Challenge - Day 187 of 365 - 3rd Sept 2025
A little while ago, a lovely subscriber requested that I paint a hummingbird — and today felt like the perfect day to finally give it a try. With the weather here turning so autumnal, I thought I’d sneak in one last touch of summer before it fades away completely.
This piece is something very different for me: a bright bokeh-style background in a rainbow of soft pastel colours, with a single blue-and-green hummingbird fluttering at the centre. Surrounded by exotic branches and flowers, it has such a light, playful energy — quite unlike my usual magical forest scenes.
It’s always good to step outside the comfort zone… and I’m really glad I did with this one.

Painted on a mini 7cm x 7cm stretched canvas, this piece comes with its own little wooden easel for easy display — a tiny treasure to brighten any corner.
