Daily Art Challenge - Day 356 of 365 - 19th Feb 2026

Nine days left… the countdown is truly on now.

Today, I decided to revisit a local scene that I first painted on Day 18, curious to see how it might evolve after a year of showing up, learning, and growing. I’m really pleased with how it turned out this time - but I’ll let you decide… is it better than the original?

Today’s painting was inspired by a quiet forest path on an overcast day, where a beautiful beech tree, still holding onto its rusty orange leaves, glowed softly against the muted woodland. It felt like the perfect reflection of this in-between moment - winter slowly fading, while spring waits patiently just beyond the trees.

At first, I wasn’t sure how I would capture the gentle mood of the scene. But as I painted, soft pastel tones began to emerge beneath my brush, and the woodland slowly transformed into something more magical - a dreamy fairy forest, where reality and imagination quietly meet.

This challenge has been as much about growth as it has been about painting… and moments like this make me realise just how far I’ve come.
