Day 357 of 365

£27.50

Daily Art Challenge - Day 357 of 365 - 20th Feb 2026

Today I painted a brand new Mushwood, first created in my sketchbook while I was travelling. I decided to try something a little different with this one. Instead of the traditional spotted cap, hers is decorated with a delicate floral pattern, and she wears a rather dashing green jacket, as though she’s dressed for an important woodland duty. Surrounded by wildflowers, she gently holds a slightly drooping bloom in her hand, as if she has paused to comfort and care for it.

Her full name is Ellowen Primrose Fernwhistle, though most simply call her Ellie. In Faefern Forest, she is known as a gentle caretaker — the one who tends to tired flowers, listens to the quiet whispers of the moss, and helps new buds find the courage to open. Her floral cap marks her as one deeply connected to growing things, and her green jacket signifies her role as a quiet guardian of the forest’s fragile beauty.

Ellie has a calm, nurturing presence, and wherever she lingers, the smallest flowers seem to stand a little taller, as if reassured that they are not alone.
