Daily Art Challenge - Day 314 of 365 - 8th Jan 2026
It snowed today - not deep or heavy, just a magical dusting.
I knew straight away I wanted to paint a snowy landscape, but I also knew I didn’t want it to feel Christmasy.
So… back to the tester oracle cards I went. I pulled four prompts again:
Bright & bold, paint loosely, cold scene, warm heart, and add fairy lights.
Those prompts led me somewhere completely unexpected. I painted a sky glowing in yellows and oranges, a bright sun rising or setting and reflecting across a winter stream. The trees and bushes fell into purples, the ground lightly dusted with snow, tall grasses poking through the frost - and in the distance, strings of fairy lights woven through the forest.
It feels wintry, magical, and full of warmth… exactly what I needed today.

All items are made in Scotland, UK
Painted on a mini 7cm x 7cm stretched canvas, this piece comes with its own little wooden easel for easy display - a tiny treasure to brighten any corner.
