Daily Art Challenge - Day 318 of 365 - 12th Jan 2026
Today I needed my painting to work a little harder - part daily art challenge, part workshop planning. So I created something that could do both.
At the heart of this piece is a bright, glowing centre of pale orange, bursting outward into layers of soft pinks and purples. Leaves and branches intertwine and overlap, building a dreamy, mystical backdrop that slowly deepens into rich, dark purple at the edges - like dusk closing in around a hidden clearing.
It felt like the perfect stage to add a simple silhouetted bird, quietly resting on a branch, watching the light fade. A calm pause in the middle of all that colour and movement.
Next, I’ll be painting a simplified version of this piece to make it super beginner-friendly for a future workshop - proof that magical results don’t need to be complicated.

Painted on a mini 7cm x 7cm stretched canvas, this piece comes with its own little wooden easel for easy display - a tiny treasure to brighten any corner.
