Daily Art Challenge - Day 339 of 365 - 2nd Feb 2026
Today I had planned to paint the Birnam Oak - the ancient Scottish tree, last remaining remnant of the great Birnam Wood made famous by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. But as I began laying down the background, I got completely lost in the magic of the woodland itself and the feeling I wanted this daily mini to hold.
I stayed in that moment and let the enchantment lead. Sunlight filters through trees and branches, soft browns grounding the piece, with layers of greens and yellows edging a winding path. Grasses and wildflowers surround the scene - perhaps this is the quiet place just beyond the Oak. And so, Day 339 was born.
