Daily Art Challenge - Day 343 of 365 - 6th Feb 2026
Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like you’re having an out-of-body experience? Fuzzy, tired, and slightly unreal — today was very much one of those days.
Even so, I knew I didn’t want to paint anything other than the little character that appeared in my sketchbook while I was sitting in the hospital yesterday. A subscriber suggested turning a veiled lady mushroom into a Mushwood character, and I absolutely loved the idea.
This beautiful browny-yellow mushroom is tall and elegant, with a cap shaped like a lady’s hat, an off-white stalk with hints of pale lime, and the most delicate lace-like veil cascading all the way to the ground. She took a lot out of me today and was surprisingly tricky to paint, but I got there in the end.
So here she is…
